How to Check a Technician’s Licence

Ask for the licence number, class, issuing body and exact scope. Then check the relevant official register before technical work starts.

1Identify the work

Spa diagnosis, pool equipment, gas heater, heat pump, plumbing, drainage or robot repair.

2Ask for evidence

Licence number, class, qualification, person attending and business contractor authority where relevant.

3Use the right register

Electrical, gas, plumbing and refrigerant checks often use different registers.

Standards checks

Standards do not replace licences

A technician may know a standard and still lack legal authority to perform regulated work. Verify both the work scope and the licence scope.

Listings are not paid recommendations

Listings on this site are not paid advertisements, sponsored placements or incentivised recommendations. Inclusion, listing order, colour badges, feedback labels and category placement are not an endorsement or recommendation of any particular company.

A supplied licence, registration or trade authority can indicate authority for a class of regulated work where it is current and valid. It does not automatically mean the person or business is qualified and experienced for every fault, equipment brand, repair method or solution. Before booking, check the relevant official register and ask whether the technician has specific experience with your exact equipment, symptom and intended repair.
